Al Chan and Sean Saylor playing the ZZ Top song "Tush" and then a blues jam at Saylor's Restaurant in Sausalito. Sean is playing a guitar I put together for him and which I had finally delivered to him the day before. It's got a basswood body with a quilted maple cap and a quartersawn maple neck with an ebony fingerboard, and EVH Frankenstein/Wolfgang humbucker pickups. The body and the neck were ordered from USA Custom Guitars who will rout any body shape for the Hannes Bridge. I highly recommend them.

| WEISSE HUGEL KORALLE MODEL |
I've had the good fortune of living a few years in Spain when I was a teenager. I bought a classical guitar in Madrid when I was sixteen. It was my first guitar and it had to be one of the happiest days of my life. I am therefore particularly thrilled by what Joan Manel Ruiz of Weisse Hugel, a builder out of Barcelona, Spain, is doing with the Hannes Bridge. He uses the bridge exclusively on all of his 24.75" scale fixed bridge models, the solid body Koralle, the semi hollow Amathone and the hollow Amathone Jazz.
The complete specs for the innovative Koralle pictured above can be viewed HERE. It's a masterpiece which could only have been designed by someone who has been building guitars for more than fifty years. It has a graphite neck with a 1.70" nut width and the nut can be adjusted for each string length. It's a custom system and the humbuckers are also custom hand wound on site. The versatility of this guitar is truly amazing as can be heard on a variety of DEMOS done by players such as Vincent Fillatreau, Albert Cubero and Tony Carmona playing a solo version of Sultans Of Swing.

| BLACK MESA SPECTRA |
Clint Doughterty is the builder for Black Mesa Guitars and the Spectra is one of his newer models. A while ago he was inspired by an American Lutherie magazine article from RM Mottola who did an experiment to find out which of the three neck attachments (neck-through or bolt-on or glued) produced the better sound. Mottola discovered that bolt-on designs "offer superior resonance and sustain around the fundamental and successive harmonics". The article led Clint to try to perfect the bolt-on design and he came up with the TorsionLogic neck which is a rear mounted bolt-on which gives you better access to the higher frets. This allows you to combine traditional body styles, such as the Tele, with twenty-four fret necks. And it also means that the neck applies its torsion on the back of the body instead of the top of the body, allowing for less pull on the bolts.
Here's the specs for this retro-future beauty:
Body: chambered mahogany Top: bookmatched spalted maple Neck: 24.75" scale TorsionLogic™ sapele Fretboard: macassar ebony Frets: stainless medium-jumbo Pickups: WCR Fillmore humbuckers Controls: TBD Hardware: black Hannes bridge, black Steinberger tuners, black Dunlop Flush Mount Strap Locks
